Previously Microsoft has taken a jibe at Sony when Aaron Greenberg had pointed out that the battle for the core user was sort of over. Now Aaron Greenberg, who is the director of product management for the Xbox 360 at Microsoft, has said that Wii consumers are buying the console as a novelty.
Speaking with industry news site Gamasutra, Aaron Greenberg said,
“You see they are not buying games on it, right? They are buying it, it
is like something they break out when people come over, and it is maybe
a fun thing, but it is almost like the same people that buy a karaoke
machine, you know? They are not really buying it for games, they are
just buying it as a novelty.”
Aaron Greenberg is of the view that mainstream consumers are bending
more towards the Xbox 360. He also stated that the popularity of the
Wii will make the users who are looking for a new experience towards
the next generation console from Microsoft.
