PSP Keeps the Top Spot in Japan |

The Nintendo DS has been very popular all over the world, especially in
Japan. Though the PlayStation Portable has been popular there, the DS
has held an edge from quite some time. Now new figures from Media Create have showed that the PSP kept the top spot amongst the consoles in Japan.
The PSP sold some 58,861 units while the Nintendo DS managed to
shift some 48,884 consoles. Coming to home consoles segment, though it
sold less units than the handheld consoles, it sold more consoles than
the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Wii sold 48,480 units compared to the 17,973
units of the PS3 and 5,104 units of the Xbox 360.
PlayStation 2 too is still going strong and some 7,673 consles were
shifted in the the week ended June 29, 2008. As for the software sales,
there were twenty-four Nitnendo DS titles in the top fifty compared to
the nine of the Wii and eight of the PSP. As for the PS3, there were
just two.
