Another one of those amorphous projections: Gartner says that mobile gaming revenues in India will reach about $450 million by 2012 and 2007 revenues for the market were around $80 million. Meanwhile, Asia Pacific (including Japan) represents by far the largest market for mobile gaming , with end-user spending forecast to total $2.3 billion in the year 2008 and reach $3.4 billion by the year 2011. Worldwide mobile gaming revenue is on pace to total $4.5 billion in 2008, a 16.1 percent increase from 2007 revenue of $3.9 billion, according to Gartner.

-- EA Mobile will launch 15 of its mobile games in India next month in a tie up with Airtel and Vodafone . It will also start developing games for the Indian market and is currently working on developing two things thats a sureshot: Bollywood and Cricket. “We had a team of 60 people in Hyderabad, after the acquisition of Jamdat. We have now scaled it up to 250,” said EA Mobile Asia general manager Mike McCabe.

-- Indiagames and the E-Sports Council of India have formed India’s first professional gaming team, called Indian Inferno. The team won the World Cyber Games-India event in 2007 in addition to winning other gaming tournaments across India and from now on, Indian Inferno will represent Indiagames in both national and international gaming tournaments as well as conduct nationwide gaming workshops for aspiring gamers.
